Houghton Moments

While there is good WiFi, I thought it would be neat to document some of the moments along our route in which we met Houghton alum or people that had heard of Houghton.  It has been great to see how the Houghton "family" stretches out much farther than just Western New York!

- We stayed with Houghton College alum, Dan and Alison, in Portland and experienced a warm welcome.
- At the Vista House in Oregon along the Columbia River, we stopped for a pee brake and heard a voice from the parking lot.  It was Izzy, a recent Houghton graduate, who recognized us!  She was traveling the opposite way, but it was such an incredible 'coincidence'!
- In the small town of Carey, Idaho we met a woman who was a Houghton alum several years back.  She was in the pew in front of us in church visiting friends.
- In Yellowstone we were getting lunch and sitting across from a group of young men.  They noticed our shirts and said that their close friend graduated from Houghton a few years back.
- At a gas station in Wyoming we met a man whose son graduated from Houghton and who used to work there.  He also knew other current students at Houghton.
- At a coffee shop in South Dakota on a rainy night, the cashier had family from Western New York and said he knew Houghton - rather rare!

I'm sure there have been some other "Houghton moments" that I am missing, but it has been encouraging to see how small the world can be.
